Tonn Chlíodhna
2022. Glazed Ceramic. 9 x 6 inches.
Clíodhna is a goddess queen in Irish folklore, often associated with County Cork and (by some accounts) notable Cork figures, such as Irish revolutionary Michael Collins. Details of the story vary, but she is said to have been taken by a wave in Glandore Habour and the tide there is now known as Tonn Chlíodhna, "Clíodhna's Wave."
This piece is part of my ongoing series, Focail Farraige, based on old Irish words related to the sea. Read more about the series here.
